Before you start
Five minutes of preparation prevents most of the tickets we get about this product. Office LTSC 2024 will not sit beside another Office, and the key goes in after installation.

Download Office LTSC Professional Plus 2024
Use the download link in your order email. It points at the Click-to-Run installer for the perpetual edition, the build your key matches. Nothing is redeemed first: setup.office.com serves retail cards and answers “Service unavailable” or “invalid key” for a volume key.

Installation is hands-off, and one thing surprises people daily: it never asks for a product key. That is normal, because the key goes in later, inside Word.
- Run the downloaded file and approve the prompt from Windows.
- Get past SmartScreen. On “Windows protected your PC”, click More info, then Run anyway. If nothing happens, turn Smart App Control off in Windows Security.
- Let it finish. The progress window installs all six apps. Do not close it or restart.
- Wait for the “all set” message.
- Open the apps from the Start menu. Type Word and open the desktop app, not the Word app from the Microsoft Store.
If you are asked to sign in, close the prompt. A Microsoft account is not needed here, and signing in can replace your license with a Microsoft 365 trial.
Activate Office 2024 with your product key
How to activate Microsoft Office is the same in every app, so doing it once in Word covers the rest. Have the office 2024 key from your order email in front of you.
- Open Word and close the start screen.
- Go to File, then Account, near the bottom of the left column.
- Click Change Product Key, which may read Activate Product instead.
- Type the 25-character key, copied from the order email to avoid mistakes.
- Let it activate, then reopen Word.
- Check the result. File > Account should show Office LTSC Professional Plus 2024 and the status Product Activated.
If you see 0xC004C020 or “activated up to the limit of your Multiple Activation Key”, the key is fine and activation just has to be finished by phone. Click Back, choose “I want to activate the software by telephone”, and follow our phone activation and Confirmation ID guide.
Check that it worked
Open Word, click File and then Account, and compare the panel with the list below. If all four match, you are done.
- The product name reads Office LTSC Professional Plus 2024. Anything else means an old install is in charge.
- The status says Product Activated, with no countdown or banner.
- The activation bar stays away after reopening Word.
- Every app opens. Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, OneNote and Access share this license.

0xC004C020 or “activated up to the limit of your Multiple Activation Key”
This is not an invalid key: online activation on it is used up and Microsoft wants the job finished by phone. In Word open File, Account, Change Product Key, enter the key, and when the error appears click Back and choose “I want to activate the software by telephone”. Pick your country to get an Installation ID, nine groups of seven digits. Read it to Microsoft’s automated line, or email us a screenshot for the Confirmation ID. Type that into boxes A to H, keeping the window open.
0xC004C003 or “the specified product key is blocked”
A blocked key is one Microsoft has pulled on their side, so nothing on your PC will fix it. Email a screenshot and your order number to contact@officegsm.com. We check the key with our supplier and send a replacement free of charge, usually the same day, and it goes in the same way under File, Account, Change Product Key. Office does not need reinstalling for a new key, and the 180-day money-back guarantee stands the whole time.
Error 30015-25, 30038-25 or “can’t install because Microsoft 365 is installed”
The installer stops because another Office is already on the PC and the two cannot share a machine. In Settings, Apps, Installed apps, uninstall every Office and Microsoft 365 entry, including the trial on new laptops, then restart and run our installer again. If the error returns, leftovers are still on the disk: Microsoft’s Office uninstall support tool, also called the Support and Recovery Assistant, clears them. Restart once more afterwards.
“This key is for a volume licensed version of Office” or Office shows as Microsoft 365 or 2021
Your key is fine, but the Office build on the PC is the wrong one, usually a retail or Microsoft 365 copy that came with the computer, or an old install our setup landed on top of. A volume key only activates a volume install of Office LTSC Professional Plus 2024. Uninstall every Office entry, run Microsoft’s Office uninstall support tool, restart, and install again from your order email link. Change Product Key then accepts it.
“Product Activation Required” appears weeks after installing
Office is in reduced functionality mode because activation never finished, usually because the last step was missed or the PC was offline at the time. Open Word, go to File, Account and read the Product Information panel. If it does not say Product Activated, click Change Product Key and enter your key again with the computer online. If 0xC004C020 comes back, activate by telephone as described above.

What is the difference between Office 2024 Professional Plus and Office LTSC 2024?
They are the same thing. Office LTSC 2024 is the name Microsoft gives the long-term servicing release, the one you buy once and keep, and Professional Plus is the edition inside it with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, OneNote and Access. After activation, Word shows the product name as Office LTSC Professional Plus 2024, which is exactly what you want to see. There is no subscription and no yearly renewal, and Microsoft supports the release with security updates until October 9, 2029. Publisher is not included in it, because Microsoft retired Publisher, and Teams is not bundled either.
How many PCs can I install and activate Office 2024 on?
One key activates one computer. If you replace that machine or reinstall Windows, the same key can normally be used again on it, and when online activation refuses, telephone activation clears it in a few minutes. Please do not share the key, because every extra device uses up the activation count and eventually produces the 0xC004C020 message.
